Why EntrepreneuHers de CDMX is a game-changer

Orientation at Centraal led by Chandell Stone

Women have always been drivers of innovation and economies around the world—but too often their ideas are overlooked or underfunded. Chany Ventures has sought to remedy this issue with a program called EntrepreneuHers de CDMX, a scale-agnostic pre-accelerator program for women with bold ideas. Though we are only a couple of sessions into our second cohort, we think it's a game-changer; it stands to achieve long-term economic growth at all levels by supporting diverse, innovative business opportunities that wouldn’t otherwise exist. Here is why:

Spring 2023 EntrepreneuHers de CDMX

Women need an affinity space. On the first day, EntrepreneuHers were openly sharing their vulnerabilities, fears, and aspirations to a room full of brand-new faces with very little hesitation. Though a diverse group of women from across the Americas, many found solace in their shared gender identity enough put their insecurities aside and trust the intentions of the community. The EntrepreneuHers program not only offers a supportive group of like-minded individuals but also offers valuable resources and networking opportunities tailored to the unique challenges faced by women in business. By connecting with other women entrepreneurs, EntrepreneuHers can share their experiences, offer each other advice and celebrate their achievements together. Being a part of an affinity space for women entrepreneurs can truly make all the difference in their success and empower them to break down the barriers that have held them back for far too long.

Vanessa Chow, EntrepreneuHer

Many women need an on-ramp to VC because it's not an inclusive space. The world of venture capital has long been dominated by men, with women, especially Black, Latina, and indigenous innovators, being vastly underrepresented. This gender disparity has led to female founders feeling intimidated and undervalued when applying for venture capital if they apply at all. This opens up a unique opportunity for an ecosystem builder like us, that can serve as a smoother introduction to the venture space should the EntrepreneuHer decide to take that path. We bring together a number of VC firms and angel investors both with the will and skill to support founders. On the other hand, for women building lifestyle companies, we give their ideas a home in the midst of VC accelerators, offering personalized growth and capital strategies.

For many women, small business is a path to a life on their terms. "SMEs represent about 90% of businesses and more than 50% of employment worldwide." (Worldbank). Women-run small businesses are particularly important, as they provide a platform for women to break free from the traditional corporate hierarchy and take matters into their own hands. Many of our EntrepreneuHers are looking to transition from an unsavory work environment for women through entrepreneurship. By owning and operating their own businesses, they can create a better work-life balance, pursue their passions, and have a positive impact on their communities. This is why we are committed to running a scale-agnostic program.

Michelle & Leslie Moran, EntrepreneuHers

There is no place to scale up a small businesses idea. The untapped potential of women entrepreneurs is staggering. Across the globe, we see countless individuals with innovative ideas and small businesses that could easily transition to venture scale. Yet, they are often overlooked and underfunded. In this year's application cycle, we had a number of women submit highly scalable ideas as a small business venture. With coaching, we hope to help these women realize the potential of their ideas and create consequential solutions for their domain.

At Chany Ventures, we strive to create an inclusive space that empowers all entrepreneurs, especially those who have been underestimated by the traditional ecosystem. We offer all the necessary tools that allow overlooked innovators to break down barriers in business and build successful companies on their own terms.
